This Minneapolis engagement session is definitely a favorite of mine because its a bit different than most of my other sessions. During our initial consultation, Laura shared with me how she and Shawn are couple who loves to have fun. They travel, attend festivals and like a great party. In fact, the pair got engaged in Iceland!! Their wedding was to take place at Minnesota’s newest venue, Hutton House. Where they envisioned a trendy but minimal wedding focused around celebrating with their family and friends.
When we discussed their plans for their engagement session, Laura dreamed of a totally candid engagement session in Minneapolis that reflected their personalities and inability to take themselves too seriously. Something I think we totally captured! We ended up having the most picturesque fall evening in their favorite city with tons of sunshine and warm weather. We kept things very relaxed and simple by beginning with cocktails and heading down the street to Able Brewery for another round of drinks! Afterwards we took advantage of the beautiful evening where we wandered around the Minneapolis waterfront.
What I love most about this session is how truly in their element this couple was. When preparing couples for their engagement session, I always ask “what do you love to do”. Creating something that is totally unique and personal to who you are as a couple is so important in creating images that reflect YOU! For these two, it was admitting that they liked to be with each other and explore everything Minneapolis or other cities have to offer. They decided instead of overthinking it or dressing too formal they would embrace who they were as a couple and really let loose. As I mentioned before, it definitely shows! In every image they are SO over the moon for each other! 🙂
