Father of the Bride Inspired Tent Wedding in Minnesota

If you ever fell in love with the movie “Father of the Bride” this wedding is for you. A classic backyard tent wedding is hands down one of my favorite types of weddings photograph for a variety of reasons including how intimate they feel.

This private property was a little slice of unbelievable heaven. The Bride Hanna could not imagine getting married anywhere else but at her childhood home and when you see these photos you’ll understand why. The property itself included a beautiful field where her family played their baseball games, a vineyard, orchard and historic farmhouse. When the couple reached out to me, they had hired the #1 planner Lasting Impressions to bring their vision to life. Sarah Trotter is the ultimate planner for tent weddings and you can see why!

The day kicked off with the perfect summer weather. Hanna and her 12 bridesmaids were packed into the house getting ready together while Jake and his groomsmen relaxed in the pool house. When we arrived, we found Hanna’s dad leaf blowing the driveway and making sure everything for his daughter’s day was in perfect condition. He even built the stage for her to stand on for her wedding ceremony. We spent the next few hours photographing a whirlwind of love and joy at around the home. Let’s face it, when you have a 24 (yes a TWENTY FOUR) person wedding party, your day will absolutely be the most beautiful kind of whirlwind. As we wrapped up photos and tucked everyone away, an urgent beeping began on our cell phones. “THUNDERSTORM WARNING” instantly flashed acrossed our screens.

While everyone remained calm and guests took their seats it became very apparent we were going to take a direct hit. As everyone witnessed Hanna & Jake exchange rings, the clouds became increasingly darker. Once a wall of wind hit, everyone began laughing and the couple amusingly agreed to speed up the ceremony. You can see it was truly one of the most eventful and unforgettable ceremonies anyone had experienced. Bridesmaids were gripping the Hanna’s Ines DeSantos gown while she was promptly declared Jake’s wife. Guests hustled into the tent as the rain began to fall, where they were greeted with a stunning reception, custom cocktails and hor d’oeuvres. When guests were seated for dinner, Hanna’s cousin was able to finish his speech that he had original planned for the ceremony. Everyone joined in in congratulating the couple with a toast. The rest of the evening was spent dining and laughing. When the rain eventually stopped we were able to sneak out to the vineyard for a handful of photos before the pair tore up the dance floor with the ever popular Blue Water Kings Band playing.

This day was one for the books and will go down as the most memorable wedding ceremony. Everyone had such a positive outlook throughout the entire day!
