We discovered that the road to Hana is a pretty popular thing to do, but the frightfully awful unpaved way? Yeah. That’s less traveled. Did we know this? Absolutely not.
If anyone has taken this route you’d know a diaper or at least a change of underpants should be at the tippy top of your packing list because you will need them when you drive down a one lane road honking your horn praying someone doesn’t smash into you.
But the coast line is breathtaking.
and luckily we made it to the Haleakala National Park for our hike up the Pipiwai trail.
The finale? A huge and very gorgeous waterfall.
